In today’s workplace, the health and wellbeing of your staff is extremely important although creating a work-life balance for your employees is certainly challenging. Looking after your staff can keep morale high and lead to greater productivity and fewer days off sick. Here’s how to create the perfect event.
If you are considering a wellbeing event for your staff, you need to do some careful planning:
· Who will attend?
· What are your objectives?
· What is your budget?
· What will be included on the day?
· Where and when?
· How do you let everybody know?
· How do you evaluate the event?
Carefully consider your workforce including age and gender and also look at the main reasons for absence. Are your employees off work with back issues, colds or perhaps stress? This will help you plan the type of activities to ensure your workforce gets the maximum benefits. Activities can include health screening, interaction, relaxation and/or education. You can even ask your employees what they would like to do by sending out staff surveys.
Are you trying to reduce sick days, improve morale in the workplace, educate your employees or improve their health and wellbeing?
Determine how much you want to spend on your day and don’t let costs spiral out of control.
Make sure that you use professional people who are qualified, experienced and of course insured. You might want to use a specialist company who are the experts and will no doubt save you a lot of time and money as they do the work for you. It’s at this point that you want to determine if this is going to be a one-off event or part of an on going plan.
When And Where
You need to consider how people will get to the activity venue if you can’t hold the event in your workplace. There are lots of logistical issues including the implications if the majority of the workforce is not available. Would it be impractical to put business operations on hold for the day? If it could be detrimental to your business, think about splitting the activity times between morning and afternoon, so that some of your workforce is available at all times.
Communicate With Everybody
This is something that can be forgotten. Inform your staff in plenty of time by putting up posters, sending emails, reminders at team meetings and personal invitations.
Evaluating The Event
You can get feedback from the participants. If you use a specialist company, you will find that they have ways of evaluating the success of the day.
Choose from activities:
· Health Screening
You might want to include health assessments, which can range from complete one-to-one health screening to specific testing for conditions such as cholesterol, CVD, stroke, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and kidney disease.
This can be made to be lots of fun and activities include the Smoothie Bike Challenge, which is an innovative and entertaining way to engage staff whilst raising awareness of activity levels and food nutrition.
How about Cyclo-ssage, which is a ground breaking portable massage system, providing a stimulating vibration massage? The Cyclo-ssage System is a medically approved device, which targets six different zones in the body, namely the neck, shoulders, lumbar region, hips, hands and feet. Other relaxation options are Reiki and Reflexology.
If the emphasis is on education, you can include workshops such as nutrition, health, diet and exercise and specific programmes across a variety of media.
